The Lighting Series

Theme: Dance

Learn how to freeze motion and create striking portraits of dancers in action. This hands-on workshop covers contemporary, urban, and West African dance styles, giving you a diverse range of movement to practice with.

You’ll master lighting setups, camera settings, and direction techniques to capture both crisp action shots and expressive stills. With a small class size for plenty of personalized guidance, youl’ll leave with bold portfolio images and new creative tools.

  • The lighting workshops focus on studio lighting. All workshop attendees should know how to operate their camera, and understand the basics of photography - aperture, shutter speed and ISO - these will not be covered during the class.

  • If you have a light trigger, bring that with you. If you don’t have one, we do have a few that participants can share. The studio is equipped with everything you’ll need for the workshop experience, except for you and your camera!

  • If you’d like to purchase a light trigger, we recommend one of the two below.
